Wybone In The Community
Wybone work with charities both locally and nationally, raising money for good causes.
We run schemes such as non uniform days where staff donate £1 to attend work in casual clothes.
Charities we have supported include Weston Park Hospital & local schools.
We also hold charity days, where the aim is to fundraise for a chosen charity.
2011
Wybone’s Jessica Chandler runs a half marathon...
After months of training and preparation Wybone’s HR Manager Jess Chandler went above and beyond by completing a half marathon to raise money for Vasculitis UK.
Before the event on 23rd April 2011 Jess pledged to run 6 miles but when the day itself dawned she set off determined to better that. It was the second hottest April day since 1893 but she didn’t let that deter her and instead set her mind to reaching the 13.1 mile mark.

The route took in the countryside in and around Yorkshire Sculpture Park and if you know the area, you’ll know it’s pretty hilly, making it a difficult course for anyone to follow. Jess set off in a group of three but 4 miles from the end she pushed up a gear and powered ahead.
The next half an hour or so proved to be the hardest but Jess wasn’t to be beaten, she put her head down and dug deep, to sprint across the finish line in 2 hours and 10 minutes. The fastest lady runner on the day!
Both Richard Cooper’s (Managing Director) daughters took part in the event as well with Mini, aged 14 completing the half marathon through a combination of running and cycling and 9-year-old Charlie running the last mile of the course. Charlie’s picture even made it into the local paper!
All the money raised is going to Vasculitis UK, which supports research into causes and treatment for vasculitis diseases. Over the past few years the Trust has donated over £125,000 into vasculitis research projects at Birmingham University Hospital. Recently the Trust donated £10,000 to the “Aleviate” trial being undertaken at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. This important trial is to test a new drug which it’s hoped will treat difficult or relapsing cases of vasculitis where other therapies have failed. Several other important vasculitis projects will also benefit from donations to be made during 2011. If you wish to donate please email holly.hampshire@wybone.co.uk

The team here at Wybone raised money for Children In Need. We not only held a raffle but the MD, Richard cooked breakfast for all the staff. We managed to raise £439! That's over double the amount from 2010. Here's hoping we can get twice as much in 2012.

Wear It Pink Day
Wybone recently raised over £1200 from employee fundraising initiatives on our Wear It Pink Day, including sausage sandwiches, raffles and bun selling.
Other events on the day also included our staff wearing an item of pink clothing, with the most outrageous winning a special prize.
